Wine Storing

Wine is as natural as it gets and needs special care. The way you store your Wine may have a hugely significant impact on the quality and taste. Stored carefully, it can maintain its shape and character for many years. Exposed to fluctuations in light, humudity and temperature, it will die in a few days. Following are a few tips that will help keeping your Wine in its top form for a long time:

  • It is absolutely essential to store your Wine bottles horizontally to keep the cork moist. It prevents air (or rather oxygen) entering the bottle.
  • Light is inauspicious for Wine. That's why most Wines are bottled in dark colored glasses. Always store you Wines away from direct sunlight or any other source of light.
  • Fluctuations in temperature and humidity are harmful to Wine. Always keep your Wines in a cool dark place (ideally a cellar) with a placid temperature of around 13-15 Deg C (~50 Deg F) and a humidity of around 70-80%.
  • Wine bottles should not be subjected to vibrations or regular movements while stored. It helps effective sedimentation of Wine. A Wine rack is always useful as it allows easy access to any bottle without disturbing other bottles.
  • And if you are really serious about Wine and you don't have a cellar already in your house, you may consider investing in an underground Wine cellar or secure a storage space in a Wine storage facility or may be, buy a little Wine refrigerator.
