USA and WineLand of Promising WineUnited States is the fourth largest country in the World in terms of area. The climate is mostly moderate and suitable for cultivating grape-vines, in most of the states with a few exceptions; e.g., Alaska. Hence, Wine is produced commercially in almost every state. However, 90% of the American Wine is produced in California alone. New York State and Washington State are other notable Wine producers which contribute around 9% of the total production. The tradition of making Wine in America began only around 250 years ago with the arrival of European missionaries. The native American grapes were of poor quality for making Wine, hence, Spaniards planted Criolla grapes and established first vineyard in California. California rapidly earned a reputation as one of the most prominent places for making Wines in America and Worldwide due to its excellent climate for growing good quality grapes.
