Romans begun producing Wine in Bordeaux during first century.
After the fall of Roman Empire circa fifth century, the monasteries rapidly spread
Christianity and the art of Wine making throughout the Europe. Monks
were making wine in Burgundy during as early as sixth century.
Religion and Wine were laced together and monks were involved in vinification till
as late as eighteenth century. French cellar-master monk, Dom Pierre Pérignon, made one of the
most famous contributions by inventing sparkling Wine called Champagne.
